04 / QUESTIONS

Before you
get started.

Clarity starts with answers to your first questions.

What is a certificate of marital status?

The certificate confirms that you meet the conditions for marriage. You need it before the ceremony. Depending on your circumstances, you apply to the Agency of Family Law or a municipality.

Which documents do we need?

This depends on your circumstances. Identity, residence and previous marriages may be relevant. Some foreign documents require translation, an apostille or legalisation. We help you understand the specific requirements.

How long is the certificate valid?

A certificate of marital status is generally valid for four months from issue. It may be valid for a shorter period if, for example, a passport or residence permit expires sooner.

What does assistance cost, and how long does it take?

Contact us for a quote based on your case. Vieta鈥檚 fee and the official application fee are separate. Processing time depends on the authority and your documentation. Check current fees and processing times with the Agency of Family Law.

Can Vieta guarantee approval?

No. Vieta provides practical application assistance. The authority decides whether you meet the conditions for marriage. We cannot guarantee a particular processing time or wedding date.
